A Little About Us
LDSC is a local AmeriCorps program serving the delta region of Louisiana. AmeriCorps is commonly referred to as the Peace Corps of the United States. LDSC is one of the original AmeriCorps programs in the country and is the longest running in Louisiana.
What We Do
LDSC partners with over 15 local non-profits, public schools, grassroots and community organizations to provide capacity building services in the areas of nutrition, fitness, mental health and wellness, HIV/AIDS prevention and environmental preservation.
Our members serve 11 months, full-time as Volunteer Coordinators, Technology and Social Media Coordinators, Program Outreach and Community Awareness Coordinators and Program Development Coordinators. They receive a living allowance, health insurance, student loan forbearance, tons of training and networking opportunities and an education award.
The service year starts September 1st. Applications process starts in the spring each year!
